📝 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Examine the window:
    • Check if it's painted shut
    • Look for visible damage to the frame or tracks
    • Test if the window lock is engaged
  2. Clean the window tracks:
    • Remove debris with a vacuum
    • Wipe down tracks with a damp cloth
    • Let tracks dry completely
  3. If painted shut:
    • Run putty knife along the seam where window meets frame
    • Gently tap putty knife with hammer if needed
    • Work around entire window frame
  4. Sand rough spots:
    • Use medium grit first for rough areas
    • Follow with fine grit for smooth finish
    • Wipe away dust with clean cloth
  5. Lubricate tracks:
    • Apply silicone spray to tracks
    • Move window up and down to distribute lubricant
    • Wipe away excess
